YMC SS14

Lookbook

Written Lewis Cameron

“A softer less aggressive collection to the winter one, with a modern nod to colonial Britain. Naïve, childlike prints are used on easy, sporty, minimal shapes creating a fresh wearable summer wardrobe.”

Designed by Fraser Moss, YMC SS14 collection utilises the brand’s signature blend of relaxed tailoring with an unmistakable playful edge. A minimal silhouette is offset by child-like prints; combining the classic with the utterly modern-redefining the use of colour, print and texture as a trend of the modern, masculine aesthetic.

Laid-back looks, unmistakeable attitude and assurance, YMC SS14 advance from the Utilitarian design philosophy of Autumn/Winter’s ‘Dead Inside’ and progress into a more muted rebellion. Oversize spot patterns. Graffiti paint strokes. Animal prints and more, all made reference to YMC’s punk inspiration given a modern edge in luxurious, lightweight fabrics and functional separates.

YMC SS14 in three words: Fun, funky and energetic.

Main features: ‘a highly British form of modernism’, eclectic, collected and concise.
Favourite Piece: The distressed snakeskin print shirt and matching shorts.
