Men's Style Icon: Jared Leto

Written by Lewis Cameron

Heartthrob, Hollywood actor and hair envied male Jared Leto, aka 30 Seconds to Mars front man, has made a fair amount of bold choices over the last few years when it comes to his eclectic red carpet attire. Back in 2011 when the MTV EMA’s were held right here in Belfast, Leto opted to rock prestigious local womenswear designer Una Rodden’s black knee-length skirt. A statement piece from her latest ladieswear collection at the time and a red carpet standout for Leto from the word go.

Unfortunately he had a slight Bowie mullet going on and paired the androgynous piece with pale pink sequin single stripe leggings and a dodgy pair of Peter Pan type boots. Thankfully it wasn’t the first time he donned a pant-skirt combo, rocking a well executed grungier take for style necessary events and enjoying New York Fashionweek sitting comfortably in the front row.

Fast forward a few years and Jared’s slowly abandoning his love of all things avant garde and edgy moving for a more sartorial flavoured era complete with on-trend dip-dyed hair. To put it simply, he’s cool as fuck. The Dallas Buyers Club Beverly Hills premiere was the perfect example, skinny fit trousers, patented shoes, a simple tee and a standout, statement royal blue blazer. Occasionally adding a touch of rock and roll with various oversized silhouettes, asymmetric overcoats, leather trousers and fedora hats.

Jared’s gone all dapper on us.Did we mention he is the only man in history to effortlessly pull off a metallic gold tuxedo jacket? No? Well he is the only man in history to effortlessly pull off a metallic gold tuxedo jacket. A piece from Saint Laurent’s SS14 collection, the blazer was worn recently to the Oscars as Jared sported studded loafers and a hot pink silk pocket square, securing his position as one of Beyond Man’s major men’s style icons.

If that wasn’t enough to convince you of his style guru status, he also manages to look good wearing trainers and an oversized, woollen scarf. No more needs said.
