This January, for London Collections: Men, the bespoke tailors of Savile Row and The Woolmark Company, along with London’s best shirt & shoes makers and hatters, presented the modern face of British elegance to an international audience made up of buyers and journalists. The presentation serving as a reminder of the fact that London is the world capital of masculine style, and has been for over two centuries.
Through 'The English Gentleman', now in its 3rd Season, Savile Row tailors and the gentlemen's houses of St James's continue to present the finest collections, in the most iconic and exclusive settings in London.
Over 80 models, situated in an underground war memorial, drinking, lounging, reading, cooking, talking business, plotting strategic military operations and all things top secret and all dressed in classic, lavish tailoring from the menswear Gods of Savile Row and the Woolmark Company.
Based in the Cabinet Rooms of the Churchill War Room, ‘The English Gentleman’ was a static presentation like no other showcasing Savile Row’s AW14 collaboration with London Collections: Men. Taking the form of a performance featuring an abundance of stunning male models all dressed by Savile Row tailors and the gentlemen’s houses of Mayfair and St. James.
The War Cabinet Room, Historic Corridors, PM’s Secretary, the Map Room, Churchill’s Kitchen, the Chief of Staff’s Conference Room. All used to display and showcase the best of British heritage formalwear from the likes of Gieves & Hawkes, Richard James and Chester Barrie to name a few, in a range of frabrics, colours, styles and silhouettes.
The Savile Row AW14 show was by far one of my favourite highlights of my time at LC:M, captivating from start to finish with an outstanding display of enchanting tailoring representing a powerful combination of beautiful materials and expert, first-class craftsmanship.
