Tartan, mesh, leather, metallics, studs and statement, S&M inspired jewellery. These are the dominating foundations of an adventurous and explorative era filled with heated rebellion, liberal expression and overwhelming creative imagination. I am of course referring to the anarchist, paradigm shift inducing time of the revolutionary punk.

In May to August of this year, the MET's Spring Costume exhibit entitled PUNK: Chaos to Couture took place, examining punk's impact on the world of high fashion. All the way from the movement's birth in the early 70s, right through to its continuing influence on the modern day world. In short, punk is back and in actual fact in never truly left.

Collaborating with the luxurious and opulent Atelier-Design studio, a high-end furniture store of epic Aladdin's cave proportions, we created a punk partywear extravaganza like no other. Mixing Christian Lacroix butterfly print sofas and Matthew Williamson leaopard print chairs alongside elegant couture inspired looks from Vivienne Westwood, Versace and Givenchy with more modern elements filtered in from Maison Martin Margiela and Isabel Marant. Punk partywear at its finest.

"Punk is musical freedom. It's saying, doing and playing what you want." These are the words of Nirvana's Kurt Coban. And in fashion industry terms that very same definition lends itself effortlessly. Punk is fashion freedom. It's wearing, styling and creating whatever you want.
