Lee Roach AW13: London Collections: Men.

Written by Lewis Cameron

Wed. 9. Jan.

When it comes to all things monochrome I am completely sold. White and black are 100% in my top three all time favourite colours to work with so when Central Saint Martins BA graduate Lee Roach sent a wave of monochrome flavours down the runway at the opening day of London Collections for his AW13 line, I couldn’t have been anymore ecstatic if I’d ran naked down the street yelling ‘MONOCHROME FOR THE WIN.’

What Went Down:
Sleek padded, fitted jackets led the way in a collarless format in both cropped and knee-length variants containing an extremely clean cut futuristic finish from head to toe. Minimal to the very core focusing on the contrasts supplied by the black and white collection with an emphasis on mixing and matching throughout. Buckle details and metallic motifs popped up here and there to provide a break in colour and add to the man of tomorrow’s Autumn/Winter attire.

Noteworthy Mentions:
Every single heavenly white jacket or coat Lee Roach sent down the runway. Eloquent from every angle. Simplistic and sophisticated in a modern style, presenting a slightly more feminine take for the modern man to rock in the coming year. With an almost Parisian catwalk adventure occurring before our very eyes.

Beyond’s Best Bit: The full length white as fallen snow overcoat. It is beyond stunning. So much so I am currently attempting to purchase a lab technician’s coat via Ebay. Yes a lab technician’s coat. I plan to cut off the collar, roll up the sleeves and stitch them in place thus creating a slightly oversized Lee Roach inspired piece I can call my very own.  Other highlights included the very materials Roach used to craft his almost Dystopian take for the modern man with harsh fabrics combined with luxury and urban polish. Oh and the white and black ankle boots were the stuff of dreams.
