In a bid to keep the peace between the Twi-hard Team Edward and Team Jacob fans out there I felt it only fair I dedicate a post to Taylor Lautner and his impeccable red carpet taste following our discussion of co-star R-Patz and his emerald green Gucci ensemble. T-Lautz however opted for a metallic blue number courtesy of none other than the prestigious Calvin Klein.
Say what you want about the Twilight flicks and their lead males, they know how to prep for the upcoming party month that is December and all its action packed Xmas frolicking. Taylor was even gracious enough to show us how to accessorise and compliment the glowing suit by pairing a grape formal tie with a classic form fitting white shirt. Topping it all off with a pair of eloquent dark brown brogues.
Colour is beyond a shadow of a doubt a crucial and integral element to the modern gent’s Autumn/Winter wardrobe. What’s even more exciting on the blue front is the fact it is a ridiculously versatile shade easily paired with a monumental assortment of complimentary shades.
I personally mix my range of blue-wear with classic and minimal black items. Something generally frowned upon but I stand by my style guns when I say it works, taking a unique twist on the Utilitarian simplistic trend in the process. T-Lautz even adopted the same mentality wearing a similar Z Zenga ink suit and pairing it with a classic v-neck black tee and wait for it…black shoes. Thus proving my point that black does in fact go with blue.
Taylor Lautner’s midnight blue ensemble is perfect for the party goer and anything tan will heighten this sophisticated look. However if you add a touch of majestic metal to the ensemble you would more than risk it for the biscuit with H&M’s latest designer collaboration of the Maison Martin Margiella kind with the metallic square detail scarf.
Of course you may come over a bit to enthusiastic for the Christmas season but what the hell. Other perfect additions are naturally printed pocket squares of which it is often a good idea to go hand in hand with your tie, socks or shoes creating a canvas in one shade here or there. My advice is maroon or mustard. Both work extremely well with the blue palette and anything tan will more than heighten the look on every level.
M&S have the perfect affordable option from their Limited Collection in a rich midnight blue shade, super slim fit design and a metallic sheen to boot. Coming in just under £100 at £99. River Island offer the more expensive option in a similar shade along with a three piece waistcoat addition. They also possess an interesting variant with black contrasting lapels and breast pocket detail. Coming in at £150 without the added waistcoat. But let’s be honest, if you’re not that Rabbit from Alice Wonderland…you really don’t need a waistcoat. Nor should you ever wear one.
