When models walk along a runway concealed within the barriers of wire mesh fencing wearing black netting over their faces, you know you are in for a catwalk treat of artistic proportions and last month, Riccardo Tisci’s offering for Givenchy’s AW14 collection in Paris presented just that.
Audience members received courtside seats at the basketball ground incorporated show, featuring statement streetwear given an elegant, sartorial revamp in the form of loose fitting urban chic designs complemented effortlessly by luxurious tailored overcoats in both leather and velvet materials. Baggy trousers were the overall recurring theme paired alongside colourful and youthful printed blazers, abstract shirts and fur adapted outerwear.
Other noteworthy highlights include a cooler than ice basketball net jumper, a grey cashmere vest featuring luminous orange rims, a silver metallic zip detailed shirt and more than a few eye-catching, neoprene sweaters.
More laid back, more simplistic and definitely more sartorially pleasing, Givenchy AW14 was a collection buzzing with vibrant, cutting edge, contemporary menswear designs packing influence, inspiration and energetic sports luxe infused confidence.
Game over.
